dieKunstBauStelle – the association

FOUNDATION

The association “dieKunstBauStelle” was founded in January 2014 in Landsberg am Lech on the initiative of Wolfgang Hauck with artists, actors from the cultural scene, journalists, editors, and sociologists, as well as volunteers.

FORMATION

Der Verein hat sich aus einen gleichnamigen Kunstprojekt von Wolfgang Hauck entwickelt: dieKunstBauStelle. Diese soziokulturellen Kunstprojekt wurde 2012 in Landsberg am Lech durchgeführt.

Das Zentrum der Stadt Landsberg am Lech wurde 2013 durch einen Umbau des Hauptplatzes zu einer Großbaustelle. Ein Anlass, diese Baustelle und Innenstadt künstlerisch mit einer Ausstellung wieder in Besitz zu nehmen. 20 Jugendliche erarbeiteten in einem außerschulischen Projekt eine Ausstellung im öffentlichen Raum.

Unter professioneller Anleitung durch Photographen, Künstlern und Schriftstellern entstand eine Serie von 60 großformatigen Drucken. Der Ausstellungsraum lag mitten in der Stadt, für alle und jederzeit zugänglich, am zentralsten Ort, dem Hauptplatz.

Je kleiner die Baustelle wurde, umso mehr konnte sich die Ausstellung ausdehnen.

he association developed from an art project of the same name by Wolfgang Hauck: dieKunstBauStelle. This socio-cultural art project was carried out in Landsberg am Lech in 2012. In 2013, the centre of Landsberg am Lech became a large construction site due to the reconstruction of the main square. An occasion to take possession of this construction site and town centre again artistically with an exhibition. In an extracurricular project, 20 young people created an exhibition in public space. Under the professional guidance of photographers, artists and writers, a series of 60 large-format prints was created. The exhibition space was located in the middle of the city, accessible to all and at any time, at the most central place, the main square. The smaller the site became, the more the exhibition could expand.

Our goals and visions

Culture and art

The association’s activities are the promotion of art and culture, cultural mediation, cultural education and cultural youth work projects. To this end, the association initiates and organises projects together with partners from the Landsberg area and internationally with foreign cultural organisations. Regional activities and focal points in Bavaria The current focus of local projects in Bavaria are carried out in the district of Landsberg am Lech and in Berlin, especially in the field of visual arts with new media, film and photography and work with refugees.

International activities

The international focus is currently on Turkey, Iraq and Afghanistan. The focus is on the development of a coordination centre and a professional organisational structure for the sustainable implementation of “Social Circus in crisis and war zones” and the promotion of working materials, training and experience of “Circus Effect”.

A special concern is the development of new forms and ways of commemorating, especially the history of the 20th century. The effects and aftermath of the National Socialist tyranny are very close to home for us in Landsberg am Lech. Here in the City of Youth, as the National Socialists called it, history is focused in a unique way. This location already gives us a special responsibility for artistic and cultural creation. That is why we initiate, research and develop new forms of engagement. Our methods and ways of working are cultural and artistic techniques. We want to make history comprehensible and accessible to younger generations. This includes first of all knowledge, which requires preservation and can make commemoration possible.
